SPRING INTO PEACE WITH WORLD CITIZEN PEACE

As we welcome the rejuvenating spirit of spring, let’s embrace the power of peace. From April 1st to April 30th, we are conducting our first ever spring fundraiser. Join us in our mission to “empower people to create a just and peaceful world.”

Why Donate?

Your generous donation enables World Citizen Peace to carry on peace actions such as:

Empowering Peace Education: Your donations support scholarships to educators worldwide to engage their schools and students in peace building projects and activities.

Community Engagement: Funds raised will go towards local peace projects, collaborating with schools to cultivate environments of understanding and cooperation. Through these initiatives, we bridge divides and nurture dialogue among communities.

Global Peace: With your support, we aim to expand our Peace Sites and Peace Ambassador Chapters worldwide. We support and work with Peace Ambassadors in over 80 countries to realize our Five Peace Actions, in communities and in schools.

Celebrating Peace Actions: Your contribution helps us recognize and celebrate the efforts of our Peace Sites and Ambassadors, such as the Arizona Asian American Association as they build bridges of understanding among diverse communities, paving the way for peaceful coexistence.

Double Your Impact!

Every dollar you donate will be matched dollar for dollar by our supporters. This means your donation will double the impact, double the support for our peace efforts, and double the powerful changes for peace that we can create together.

Let’s make this spring a season of transformation and peace. Together, we can sow the seeds of peace and create a brighter future for generations to come.

Join us in April as we Spring into Peace!

PEACE AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT

SHAWNA FORTIN

Shawna Fortin dove

Ms. Shawna Fortin is located in New South Wales, Australia. As a Peace Ambassador she has reached out in service and generously donated her time and expertise to World Citizen Peace by designing our Peace Ambassador Certificates and her unique artwork of a peace dove for our use. She is an example of living in true alignment with our Five Peace Actions and shares with us her perspective here:

For most of my life I lived with a sense of dread; a low grade anxiety that locked me on high alert no matter where I was or what I was doing. It seemed impossible to escape, growing stronger and more pronounced with each year.

Like many, I was raised in a household that was emotionally unsafe and unpredictable. All I wanted was to feel at ease, to know the peace that I was certain lived within me somewhere.

This became ever more important when I became a mother. Would I pass on this unnamed, unseen beast to my child? Would I become the parent who was reactive and unsafe to be around?

Peace in our homes begins with peace in our hearts. Only then are we truly able to radiate this calming essence out into the broader world.

Through practicing Qigong and Tai Chi, I was able to face the unrest within me, becoming a person who was peaceful and safe to be around. This new sense of inner connection so profoundly changed my life that I have made it my personal mission to share what I know and continue to learn with others.

Every one of us holds trauma from our past. It is only in facing this that we are able to release it. Tapping into our own inner peace is absolutely vital if we desire to extend this Grace outwards into society. When we are calm, we are more loving. This inspires us to respond to life with kindness, offering deep, genuine care towards all, including the natural world.

Everything in life begins as an inside job. This includes peace. If we are not equanimous within, how can we be so without? Every single person is far more important than they may realise. Self-love and self-care are paramount to creating peace.

Family, community and connection are inextricably interlinked. Together, they create the rock solid foundation for a strong, healthy and unified world.

We are all in this together. Understanding that even the smallest act of kindness is felt like a ripple of love across the vastness of the Universe can inspire to change how we move through life. This in turn, helps to create peace in the world around us.

World Citizen Peace is proud to join with Shawna Fortin to work for a more just and peaceful world.

The Peace Bell, gifted to the United Nations by Japan in 1954, is rung annually on the International Day of Peace, September 21st. It symbolizes the desire for peace and serves as a reminder of the world’s shared responsibility to work towards a peaceful future.
