peace

We are thrilled to announce that our inaugural spring fundraiser has exceeded our expectations!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors like you, World Citizen Peace has raised over $20,000 to “empower people to create a just and peaceful world.”

Your contributions will have a profound impact on our efforts. With your support, we will continue to empower our diverse community of over 1,000 Peace Ambassadors spanning 80 countries, as well as others engaged in peace-building initiatives.

Here’s how your donations will be put to use:

  • Providing scholarships for students dedicated to the study and practice of peace.
  • Funding local initiatives aimed at integrating peace curriculum into schools.
  • Empowering educators and leaders to champion peace education.
  • Supporting the establishment and growth of Peace Sites worldwide.

Your commitment to peace is truly inspiring, and we are deeply grateful for your ongoing support. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the pursuit of a more peaceful world.

Our Spring into Peace 2024 fundraiser is winding up, but you can still contribute to World Citizen Peace by clicking on the Donate Now button below. And remember that each dollar you contribute will be matched 1-for-1 by other donors, so your donation will have double the impact.

WORLD CITIZEN PEACE WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER, JOYCE BONAFIELD-PIERCE

Joyce Bonafield-PierceWorld Citizen Peace Board of Directors is proud to announce a new Board member, Dr. Joyce Bonafield-Pierce. As a licensed psychotherapist (LICSW) with an Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Public Policy, as well as an MAS in Peace and Conflict Studies from the Austrian Centre for Peace Studies (a UNESCO program), Joyce brings deep experience in mental health, peace education, peace building, conflict resolution, international partnerships, and much more to World Citizen Peace.

For over fifteen years, her work with the Ghana Scholarship Fund (incorporated in 2010) helped support a total of 244 students with tuition through high school and university, creating a cohort of Ghanian leaders for the future.

Joyce writes, “I’m excited to be a candidate for the Board of Directors of World Citizen Peace, an organization with a promising vision of creating peace in our schools, workplaces, and communities and developing partnerships with international organizations that have similar goals. Building networks locally and partnering with international groups seeking citizen empowerment can help us create the infrastructure of democratic peace globally. The world is undergoing a time of great change, and needs such a vision (and the 5 Peace Actions!) as it works its way to a new global balance, one of greater peace, justice and inviting the voices of all.”

Welcome, Joyce!

PEACE FACTS

UN PEACEKEEPING WORKS

UN Peacekeeping has proven to be one of the most effective ways for the UN to assist host countries to navigate the difficult path from conflict to peace.

In the past 53 years, more than one million men and women from 125 countries have served in 71 peacekeeping mission worldwide, providing security and the political and peacebuilding support to help countries make the difficult, early transition from conflict to peace.

Studies show that the greater the number of peacekeepers deployed, the greater these positive effects tend to be.
