World Citizen Peace is growing and we are looking for new leadership to join our team.

World Citizen Peace is a small, dynamic nonprofit organization whose mission is to “create a just and peaceful world” through three pathways: International Peace Sites, Peace Education, and Peace Ambassadors, each organized around our core principles, the Five Peace Actions.
Position
The Executive Director (ED) position is a part-time Independent Contractor position that will report to the Board of Directors. The ED will oversee the routine operations, strategic planning and pathways to peace programs, in addition to further broadening our reach through sustainable development and fundraising. The ED must have a deep passion and commitment to peace and justice and work closely with a small staff of independent contractors and board of directors.
This position offers valuable opportunities for growth in executive leadership, development, fundraising and team building while strengthening WCP’s organization and its impact.
Location
World Citizen Peace is Twin Cities based in Minnesota, but the board and staff work remotely. Our next Executive Director may be local or work remotely.
Qualifications and Skills
The ED will be dedicated to furthering the World Citizen Peace mission which is deeply rooted in the WCP Five Peace Actions. Applicants must have experience in leadership, operations, fundraising, and relationship management. Qualifications and skills needed are listed below. We will consider individuals who are enthusiastic and willing to learn, but may not possess all qualifications here.
- Demonstrate executive administrative experience to develop and accomplish annual goals with WCP staff / board and manage a current annual budget of approximately 50K
- Experienced in overseeing and leading operations, including HR, budgets, communications, website, social media, volunteers, etc.
- Show strong experience in fundraising that may include grant writing, online campaigns, direct mail, and other revenue-generating activities
- Demonstrate development planning to increase potential funders and grow a larger donor base and international experience strongly preferred
- Have the capacity to weave an energetic, creative and effective team that will enhance and expand the mission and vision of WCP
- Plan an annual calendar with required dates for filings, board meetings, and mailings to the database with the support of board members and staff
- Have a working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Systems. (We currently use Salesforce.)
- Have an understanding of the requirements applicable to our IRS 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit organization and be willing to seek knowledgeable advisors
- Be a collaborative, optimistic, and enthusiastic representative of World Citizen Peace to diverse populations in and outside of the United States.
Compensation
The ED will be compensated for $16,000 annually, with the potential to increase in the future based on fundraising and grants generated. Candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply by the deadline, Friday, June 6, 2025.
